About Amphora Counseling, PLLC
Who We Are
Amphora /am.fo.ra/ n. a vase with two elongated handles, used in ancient times to store and transport food and liquids such as wine, olives, cereal, and oil. Its name is derived from the Greek word “amphoreus”, meaning ‘carried on both sides.’ The vessels were designed to enable them to be carried by one or two people with ease.
As we travel through life, we each hold thoughts, feelings, memories, and experiences within ourselves – a living container of knowledge and sensations. This vessel can hold the deeply nourishing parts of life that keep us moving forward. However, at times we may become heavy with worries, stress, or other hardships. These can weigh us down and make the road ahead seem long and difficult.
Whether you’re stuck on the “what ifs” of life and are holding onto stress; battling feelings of sadness, hopelessness, mood swings, or thoughts of “I’m not good enough”; hoping to work through old wounds and traumas; or if you simply need someone to listen, I am here to walk with you and carry some of that weight. Together we will slowly pour out whatever may be holding you back and make room for all the nourishing parts of life you deserve.
I work with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including PTSD and complex PTSD, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, depression, bipolar I and II disorders, OCD, perinatal/postpartum challenges, relationship issues, abuse recovery, career and academic stress, and attachment-related concerns. If your needs aren’t listed, you’re welcome to reach out.
I am a multiculturally competent, trauma-informed therapist with experience supporting neurodiverse clients, including Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). I welcome clients from all backgrounds and strive to provide an inclusive, compassionate space.
